Ana Isabel Soares is an Assistant Professor with a degree in Modern Languages and\nLiterature (Portuguese\/English) from the Lisbon School of Arts and Humanities (FLUL; 1993)\nand a PhD in Theory of Literature from the same School (2003), where, in 2009, she\ncompleted post-doctoral research in Portuguese cinema and poetry. She has taught at\nAlgarve University (UAlg) since 1996, and at for short periods in other Portuguese and\nforeign universities. Currently the head of the Department of Arts and Humanities at UAlg,\nshe was a founding member of the Association of Moving Image Researchers, of which she\nwas the first President (2010-2014). Her research interests lie in the areas of Theory of\nLiterature, multi-artistic works (e.g., by David Wojnarowicz), film (Manoel de Oliveira,\nAnt\u00f3nio Reis and Margarida Cordeiro, Edgar P\u00eara, or Margarida Gil) and literary works\n(namely 21 st century Portuguese poetry). The essays resulting from her reflections are\npublished in Portuguese and Brazilian journals, as well as in book form. Her translations \u2013 of\npoetry or literary and film theory \u2013 have appeared in Portugal and Brazil. She is the author of\npedagogical dossiers for the National Film Plan. She is a member of the Scientific Committee\nof the Research Center in Arts and Communication (UAlg).
