Anna Clara Petracca

Anna Clara Petracca is a multidisciplinary artist and researcher. With a PhD in Media Arts from the Beira Interior University (2022) and a BA in Cinema and Video from the State University of Paraná (2018), her PhD thesis focused on The subversion of identity through self-representation in women's video art. In 2016, she participated in the mobility program between the Cinema and Video course at the State University of Paraná (Curitiba, Brazil) and the European master’s degree in Documentary Filmmaking at the Lusophone University of Humanities and Technology (Lisbon), making her first film, Corpo, which premiered at the Film Festival of the International Biennial at the Curitibas’s Cinematheque.

She has presented papers and articles in Congresses, Conferences and Seminars. In 2017/2018 she was resident artist at Galeria AIREZ, in Curitiba, where she premiered the video installation/video performance XX/XXI at the International Biennial of Curitiba. She has participated in the production of film festivals such as Porto Femme International Film Festival (Porto, PT) and Fidé Brazil – International Student Documentary Festival. She was photography director and camera operator on the feature film A Alma do Gesto (2020), directed by Eduardo Baggio and Juslaine Abreu-Nogueira, screened in over 16 festivals in 11 countries. Between 2015 and 2018, she worked as a freelancer in assisting and directing photography in the audio-visual field. Her academics as well as creative-artistic research cross mainly the issues of body, gender, identity, creative processes and (self) representation.
