Carina Infante do Carmo

Carina Infante do Carmo is Assistant Professor at the University of Algarve, member of the Centre for Comparative Studies (University of Lisbon) and collaborator with the Centre for Research in Arts and Communication. She has studied Portuguese twentieth-century authors, the neo-realist movement and autobiographical writing, particularly the chronicle genre. She published Adolescer em Clausura: Olhares de Aquilino, Régio e Vergílio Ferreira sobre o romance de internato (1998) and A Militância Melancólica ou a Figura de Autor em José Gomes Ferreira (2010). She co-organized with Paula Morão Escrever a Vida. Verdade e Ficção (2008); with Silvana Pessôa and Fernando Baião Viotti, no. 57 of the Revista do Centro de Estudos Portugueses da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2017), on neorealist poets; with Violante F. Magalhães, nos. 6 and 7 of the journal Nova Síntese, on Manuel da Fonseca (2011) and Alves Redol (2012); and with Violante F. Magalhães Neo-Reaslismo e Infância (2019) and the catalog Miúdos, a Vida, às Mãos Cheias. A Infância do Neo-Realismo Português (also with Fátima Pires, 2017), following an exhibition curatorship at the Museum of Neo-Realism (Dec. 2017-Sep. 2018). She is the author of A Visagem do Cronista. Antologia de Crónica Autobiográfica Portuguesa – Séculos XIX-XXI (2 vols., 2018) and A Noite Inquieta. Essays on Portuguese Literature, Politics and Memory (2020).
