Carla Cerqueira

Carla Cerqueira holds a PhD in Communication Sciences – specialization in Communication Psychology from the Minho University (2012), with a scholarship from the Foundation for Science and Technology. Post-doctoral researcher in Communication Sciences at the Research Center for Communication and Society (CECS), she is an Assistant Professor at the Porto Lusophony University (2013-2019). From 02/2019 to 08/2020 she was a full-time researcher at CECS. She is an Assistant Professor at Lusophony University and a researcher at CICANT. Her research interests include gender, feminisms, intersectionality, NGOs, and media studies. She has participated in several conferences and scientific commissions, editorial boards, scientific and social projects, and event organizations. Main researcher of "FEMglocal – Glocal feminist movements: interactions and contradictions" and "Voices in Network: Women's participation in development processes", she is a team member of the funded projects “YouNDigital”; “Gender in Hate Pandemics”; “MigraMediaActs”; "SPECULUM" and “IMLab – The Joacine Katar Moreira Case Study”. She is part of the COST action "Women on the Move", "Making Young Researchers' Voices Heard for Gender Equality" and "LGBTI+ Social and Economic (in)equalities". She was the vice-chair of the Gender and Communication Section of ECREA and the Gender and Communication representative of YECREA. She is the president of the Research and Policies Section of GAMAG – Global Alliance on Gender and Media. She is on the board of the Portuguese Association of Women's Studies and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality of the RTP Opinion Council (mandate 2021-2025).
