Workshop promoted by Margarida Leitão and held between the 5th and 12th of July 2023, from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, in Sala Antonio Reis of the Lisbon’s Film & Theatre School of the Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa.

This workshop proposes to explore discursive cinematographic practices of female author representation through the creation of a filmic letter. Drawing from the analysis of excerpts from films made by women, the participants will develop their own project, working on writing their self through images and sounds, not only in the direct relationship with identity, but also in the alterity relation that is established with the possible recipient of the correspondence. The construction of a discourse in the singular is intended at promoting the exploration of the hybrid frontiers between documentary, fiction and film-essay and the investigation of filmic practices of self-representation such as self-portrait and autobiography.

This workshop is aimed at female students (the concept of “student” applied will be that of the participant’s own gender identity) of the Bachelor’s in Film and Master’s in Cinematographic Project Development courses at the School.
