Daniel Oliveira Silva

Daniel Oliveira Silva is a PHD student in Media Arts, with a scholarship from the Foundation for Science and Technology, (FCT) and master in cinema from the Beira Interior University. Working as a critic since 2004, he is affiliated to the Brazilian Association of Film Critics (Abraccine) and to the International Federation of Film Critics (Fipresci). He holds a degree in Social Communication from the Minas Gerais Federal University (UFMG), a specialization in History of Culture and Art from the same institution, and a post-graduate degree in Screenwriting for Cinema and TV from Toronto's Humber Institute. In Portugal, he collaborated in the programming teams of Porto Femme and CineEco festivals, was guest curator of the Short Cutz Covilhã Project (February/2020) and works as translator and copywriter for Curtas Vila do Conde. During his master's degree, he was an Erasmus Mobility Internship person at Katadrom Arts, Culture and Social Politics Association, in Istanbul, as programming assistant for Changing Perspectives International Short Film Festival. He also received the Santander Futuro Merit Scholarship (January/2021) and the UBI/Santander PhD Incentive Scholarship (March to August/2022). In Brazil, he freelanced for media outlets such as Folha de S. Paulo, SET and Teorema magazines and from 2012 to 2018 he was a reporter and critic for the newspaper O Tempo.
